The book ‘Dom Samudhayako Pahichan Badlidho Jivanshaili’ is a poignant historical account of Dom Community, reflecting on and acknowledging the role of Dom community in history. The book, as the title suggests, explores the various socio-cultural, economic, educational, health as well as political dimensions of Dom community and illustrates the change through comparison with the national average of HDI of Nepal. The book comes up with evidence that Dom are the poorest of the poor and the most excluded group. However, the brighter picture is that the book doesn’t only paint the picture of poverty, backwardness, exclusion and its causes and after effects but also a way out through recommendations. Ultimately, the socio-economic indicators illustrate the ray of hope that despite a number of hurdles, overall lifestyle of Dom community is progressing in a sluggish way.
